Like a Sims' Character
Today was absolutely wonderful and well needed!
I was feeling like a sims' character with her fun bar depleted over the past few days, probably starting a little from late last week. While all my other "bars" were well in the green, the "fun" was well below negative and it was starting to get really really terrible. Like how i'd get annoyed easily, feel depressed at the monotony of routine and the lack of meaning in what i'm currently doing.
Basically, i hadn't gotten enough nua time or "me" time in a long long while. It's like...i don't have a day in the week where i can sleep til whatever time i want and do whatever stupid things i want.
So it started with boss going to Shanghai today :D
Well, maybe with lunch too. Because it was awfully fun lunching with Rachel and watching Tai Wei and Wen Hao tease her.
Then i promptly declared the rest of the day to be a holiday lol.
And we kinda nua-ed the afternoon away :X (i'll make up for the lack of productiveness tmr, i promise!)
Yep, so that left me feeling much better, having gotten my nua self back :D
To top everything off, Booknight with Dilly was like the perfect way to refill my fun bar :D
Simply nuaing in a cosy couch in a comfy corner with a good book is awesome on so many different levels ^^v
And that nomznomz dinner which i'm still feeling full from was great too :D especially since we got weird high after xD
Love Booknights ^^ so glad it's gonna be a monthly affair :3

Managed to mask those little moments of irritation with the tiredness i was really feeling, so all's well that ends well, i guess.
Why irritation? Well, when you put mentally exhausted + starving + feet pain pain together, my tolerance level gets kinda low. Then you make me walk some distance to a place you're not really sure how to go to...double starving + feet pain pain = very very low tolerance. Then you say some things that i really really dislike on a normal basis, what less with low tolerance. 1) That i'm a kid, and you treat me like one. When i'm not even acting one bit kiddish (too tired) 2) Acting like you understand me, when it's not that true 3) Pushing your views about education and striving to me, and insinuating that i don't know why i chose my school and course and don't know what i want to do. Honestly, i think striving is fine. We're called to excel, to do our best in everything. As long as this striving doesn't take priority over everything else. Oh well, i probably wouldn't have gotten so irritated if i weren't so tired and hungry. And the food was delish. Cheesecake was heavenly *q* so all is forgiven xP Besides, i know no malice was intended, so... /sigh Oh, and the time at the Campus Crusade sale was good too! So cheap! 40% off!!!!!!! Bought a Lee Strobel book - The Case for a Creator. Although i do wanna read The Case for Christ too. Lee Strobel has been an author i've actually been wanting to read for a long time, so i'm glad :D and omg the book was under $10!~ #cheapskate Another author i've always been interested to read for non-fiction is actually CS Lewis, so i'm thankful that Cheryl bought me Screwtape Letters :3 even though it's just adding to my growing booklist haha And lastly i bought a CD that cost like $2.14 *w* and it has songs that i like too heehee :D Campus Crusade has a 30% off sale on 11-16 June!~ Anyone interested? :D Yeps, so as said, alls well that ends well ^^ This week is really busy. I'm trying to juggle between work and doing what i like which is spending time with my friends. So like...every night there's something on @.@

Technically, if i go into this with the thoughts that it's going to be zzz and that i won't enjoy myself, i definitely won't enjoy myself.
So i should go, expecting to have fun and thinking the best. But i can't...not really, so i shall compromise and say that it's gonna be an interesting catch up time (not that it's catch up since it's always the same ppl going for those gatherings and i never get to see the people i really wanna see...) Bringing WSS to read (cos it's small enough to fit into my bag LOL) Thining of dl-ing book 3 if i have the time before i leave, but then hor...i need to read the other book before book 3 :( cya friends -suppressed sigh-

I remember just a year ago, i was worrying and worrying and worrying about how i needed to score well enough to get accepted into business, because the cut off was quite high (especially when you compare it to my terrible grades at that point of time). I remember thinking that every time - PSLE and O's - i would fail to get to my 1st choice school but get into my second choice as well.
And i was afraid, so afraid that it'd be the same this time. No matter how i said that i'd trust in God's will and plan, and that He'd open and close the doors that were right. No matter how the so called 2nd choices had turned out to be fitting for me instead. Even after i'd gotten back my results, i was fearful that i'd end up in social sciences (not that it's a bad course, it's interesting, but i would feel a little like a lost sheep i think) not really knowing what i'd want. I'd already decided that NTU and NUS would reject me for business and that it was good that i wanted SMU, and i could probably get in there. Yet, doubts had also begun to plague me that perhaps i might fare better in FASS. There's been so much mixed reviews about all the biz schools. My econs and math did pretty terribly, and they're business related subjects. Even the teachers were telling me to reconsider my choice. So really, really, i thank God for not only pointing out the course i should take, but boosting my confidence in this subject area. It was seriously beyond my thoughts that i'd get accepted into NTU biz, and i had kind of begun to give up hope on NUS's, thinking that i had not done well enough for the interview. But by God's grace, i somehow got accepted into all, and i guess that's really cleared any hesitancy i held previously (even if that wouldn't have stopped me from going to SMU anyway). SDG.

Moms And Dads Day (MADD) was the first event in church i actually sat down to help all the way through and it was really a great experience. Through all the teeth gnashing, sian ji puas, face palmings and reluctancy, it was really good to see the whole event through and see it pass relatively successfully. Thank God!
It really always feels exciting on the actual event day to see all your planning come to fruition and everything run smoothly (if not like clockwork) to your planning. And how the little glitches cause panic but doesn't matter in the end once everyone has fun. Ok, so despite all my whining and griping, i'm thankful that i had this opportunity to serve, to learn and to help out. And i thank God for the wonderful emcee team who had such great chemistry together and epic adlibbings and energy (: And of course my pee whom i always call to rant or ask for brainstorms :X heehee tys pee~ -hearts- We were a team thrown together randomly and (probably for some, including me) reluctantly. We are a team from different services, backgrounds and times in life. But somehow or other we made it through this event and made it out well despite the last minute rushes and such. I guess i can say that i'm looking forward to what other things the EM will be up to? It'll be interesting to see how we work when we become closer, though it's kinda scary to think, and i'm still lil Miss Awkward and the youngest there, but still, it'll be...interesting. Also on the topic of church, i'm so glad it seems i've found a sort of family in serving for Youth Alpha. It's different from the group of church friends you hang out with week after week and have fun with. It just feels like everyone in the Youth Alpha team are awesome ppl whom i've come to know and grow close to. Especially the girls. Youth Alpha girls are AWESOME ttm xD And the MasterLife group plays a big big part too! Seeing that almost all are part of the Youth Alpha team, though Shi Juen is kinda part too, since she was part of the pioneer batch of Youth Alpha :D Looking forward to more outings with the Youth Alpha(fa) and MasterLife ppl! :D Oh and this is really really bad, but remember that reading list? So i finished the first book and it was really good. And that's bad. Because I want to finish the series now...and the entire series is 14 books...and i still have a list of books to go D: BUT YOU KNOW...good fiction vs good non-fiction... You guys know where my allegiances lie...:( buuz...but i will.....even it out...somehow! |
