Oh and for the record, I might as well blog about this since i'm on blogger. And well also because i'm still pissed and figuring if I should stop being pissed but can't really get myself to stop being pissed.
So i've been busy-ish this summer because i'm in Vivace's marketing sub-comm (Vivace is my school's CCA day). At first when all my friends were signing up for Vivace I was hesitant because I wanted to have more free time in my summer. But when friend X (call him that for now because his initial is too common and i don't want people getting mixed up) got the deputy position for the Marketing comm and was telling us about his ideas, i kind of got excited. I mean who wouldn't be when you talk about cool ancient Aztec mystical themes and probably the greatest marketing gimmick of all Vivaces? And so I was persuaded to sign up. (Oh by the way, he wanted me in the sub-comm even though the Chair ((also our friend)) was saying to go by the interview ((which i didn't mind, really))) Now, months later, when we're doing the video publicity - all friend X's ideas by the way. We're coming with road blocks. Because Friend X haaaaas to have such high standards and do stop motion. Which is not wrong. And not uncool. And not not a great idea. But he did not plan for it (did not foresee the need to take more time to plan i suppose). And to be fair to him he's super busy this summer doing ten thousand and one things he signed up for to build a better portfolio. But hey, he has a sub-comm to tell things to and do things for him right? But no, we did not even really get what to do til the morning of the first day of shooting - 2 hours before. Woooow. And so it was pretty much a disaster, saved by quick thinking and great photog skills by zp. Like, most of the CCAs were pissed off and had to wait for more than an hour - all for a few seconds worth. Great PR *applauds* Which is really okay, with all the mess ups and disasters, because we all pulled through. But then there's a second video to introduce the theme. We were supposed to have cool effects and all (actually i'm quite sure i was told i could come up with the storyline waaay before, but apparently not) but because of this mess up, friend X decides that it'll be safer to introduce it in a graphic novel instead. Which means photos and lots of editing. Friend X has absolute confidence in his idea and his photoshopping skills to pull it off (even though i don't really see how it'll turn out). And of course zp the photographer and 'shopper will have to pull nights for this as well. As if he isn't already flooded with work and stress. So me and P offer to take over the second video - say we can learn effects and all. We're pretty confident in ourselves. But friend X won't let us do it. Why? Because he doesn't believe we can do it well. Before we've even started he's already saying he thinks he won't approve of it because it won't be up to standard. How nice. Like seriously. How nice. Not having confidence in your sub-comm (the sub-comm you practically chose from your friends), thanks. Dude, you're not the only one with good ideas and skills. You have bad PR within the comm, with the CCAs, and now with your own sub-comm. Good job. So what am i doing here? I don't know. Probably should have gone into sponsorship instead. Or not signed up. Thing is, we all bidded for marketing together. And he mentioned that he wouldn't mind being in the same group as me (cause we have to split into 2 groups). But after this, i think i don't really want to. How? :/ Okay rant out feel better still undecided though
I've always hated change and found more comfort in staying in my own little bubble, believing everything would be the same. But obviously that's wrong and that's not going to happen. Because people change; things change; we all change.
And yea, this year has been one of change and i have gone through one of the biggest adjustments of my life. I mean it's not like it doesn't have it's pleasant moments (plenty, in fact) but part of me just has this feeling of a metaphorical child crying on the spot refusing to go anywhere. Perhaps it'd help if more things remained constant, but honestly, it feels like everything is moving and nothing's is or will be the same anymore. I don't know. And it hurts a little sometimes. Because sometimes it feels like i'm losing people; friends. Like suddenly there's this gap between us because of the very fact that something's different in my life. And no matter how I try, it feels like I can't breach it. But ultimately it's always my fault because I changed first. Doesn't stop it from hurting though. And I guess at this point it hits me that there are people who have remained the same, people who I can still tell anything to and spend hours talking to. So thanks Xue for being the same old you. I know it mayn't seem much, but just being able to be treated the same old and normal like always whenever we go out together is a great comfort. Being able to talk without barriers and anytime is something I really appreciate. Sorry...I haven't blogged for so long (my fault) and I think i've forgotten how to blog. The new sem is coming and i'm a little bit scared that by the end of this friendships will be frayed a little. I don't know...maybe i'm just being negative. |
